Risa Vetri Ferman
Biographic Sketch

Deputy District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman is the Chief of the Trials Division of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office. She has been an Assistant District Attorney in Montgomery County since January 1993. As Chief of the Trials Division, Deputy DA Ferman supervises twenty Assistant District Attorneys. The division is divided into five trial teams consisting of Drug Prosecution, Major Crimes, Sex Crimes, Economic Crime, and the Special Prosecution Section. The Special Prosecution Section prosecutes cases involving Domestic Violence, Grand Jury, and the Norristown CLEAN Team. Deputy DA Ferman organizes training programs for the Assistant District Attorneys and oversees the Summer Intern program of the DA's Office. In addition to her supervisory responsibilities, Deputy DA Ferman maintains a caseload of criminal cases for trial.

Before becoming the head of the Trials Division, Deputy DA Ferman served as the Chief of the Pretrial Division of the DA's office from January 1998 -- August 1999. She served as the Captain of the Sex Crimes Unit of the Trials Division from July 1995 - January 1998. During that time, she specialized in the prosecution of Sexual Assault and Child Abuse cases. From January 1993 -- July 1995, Deputy DA Ferman worked as an Assistant District Attorney in both the Sex Crimes Unit of the Trials Division and in the Pretrial Division.

Deputy DA Ferman earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987. She received a B.A. in History. In January 1990, she entered Widener University School of Law, earning her law degree in July 1992. In January 1993, she joined the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

Mrs. Ferman grew up in Abington Township, Montgomery County, where she graduated from Abington High School in 1983. She currently lives in Abington Township, Montgomery County with her husband, Michael Ferman, and their three children.
