The District Attorney of Montgomery County, Bruce L. Castor, Jr., and the Chief of Norristown Police Russell Bono announce $10,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for the murder of John Young Hong in Norristown on December 31, 2001. The reward is administered through the Citizens' Crime Commission.

Shortly after 2:00 P.M. on December 31, 2001, police found John Young Hong murdered in his family-owned convenience store. At 2:09 P.M. Norristown Police received a 911 call from a customer of the market. She informed police she entered Young's Market, 199 E. Spruce Street, to find the Mr. Young* lying on the floor. She ran across the street and immediately called 911. Police arrived at the scene to find Young on the floor behind the customer service counter. The Coroner pronounced Mr. Young* dead at the scene. Young's Market is located at the corner of Spruce and Cherry Streets in the Borough of Norristown. Mr. Young* and his wife owned and operated the store together for over twelve years.

During the apparent robbery, the perpetrator(s) stole the store's cash register. It has not yet been recovered.
